"In-Quest - Made Out Of Negative Matter
The clear and brutal sound they´ve managed to come up with on this album is like a dream come true. In-Quest have been around for many years now, this actually being their fifth album, and my unawareness to their existence must be blamed on my lack of curiosity, ´cos this is some cool shit. Blending together complexity with in-your-face musical violence, hooking up with a style closely reminiscent of Meshuggah´s riffing, then off to dreamlike guitars that lead into a solo. In-Quest are not predictable, they show off some song writing skills that are great and the material is put together excellently. The enthusiasm they show on this album is coming through effectively, and the technical variation and Melo-screaming-Death Metal is beyond definition. A surprise I am very fond of!"

First review of new album 'Made out of Negative Matter' online:
"Great and long awaited new album by Belgian technicians In-Quest. Lots of speed (more than on previous albums), technical perfection (with clear influence of such bands as Meshuggah, Textures, ...), lots of breaks and pace changes, but always an undisputable level of beautiful harmony. Like always, this piece of work requires a number of listening sessions before you start to understand the complex structures of the songs. Inventive guitar and drum work also, especially the latter is at times simply stunning. In-Quest does it again, and hopefully they will reach the big audience they deserve"

Made Out Of Negative Matter sales start soon!
[ posted on: 08-12-09 ]
Super news; we're expecting the cds real, real soon now. Everything is being wrapped up at the factory as we speak.
"Made Out Of Negative Matter" is totally in hands of the band, and we're releasing it as such: fully independent, completely on our own and without compromising on any level. METAL!
What rumours told you, IS true. It's brutal, abstract, melodic and without doubt IN-QUEST.
From the first second on, MOONM grabs you where it hurts most and demonstrates the elaborate progression the band has made over the last years. This is our call of genuineness against nowadays 'metal flavoured products'...
MOONM is to be released in two formats; a superdeluxe digipack and a strictly limited clamshell box. Both formats will feature the "Mind Over Matter" video as a regular bonus, but the box is our MOONM grail and comes with poster, sticker, postcards, guitar pick and a lanyard. Strictly limited to 250!!
It should be obvious that we've invested our asses to give you, the fans, the most killer In-Quest experience ever. Being anti-trend is cool and respectable but keep in mind that it's also hard to survive ;) So support us back if you pleasah!
By the way, keep an eye on this website if you don't want to miss out on LTD boxes!
Allrighty, out for now. Thanks and cu

Made Out of Negative Matter Update II
[ posted on: 24-03-09 ]
The new In-Quest album "Made Out of Negative Matter" is a fact.
The album came to life in cooperation with Jochem J. (Splitsecondsound/Textures)
Guitars & Bass were home recorded by the band, under supervision of Jochem
Drums, vocals & additional stuff were recorded by Jochem (Excess/SplitSecondSound)
Engineered, mixed and mastered by Jochem also
11 songs made it to the final master (final order):
01. Ignition Sequence
02. Mind over Matter
03. Asynchronous Transmission
04. Walk of a Million Mouths
05. Thy Subsonic Collapse
06. The Auxiliary Theory
07. Dysfunctional Inscapes
08. Compelled Misogyny
09. Anomaly of a Tortured Mind
10. Hybris...
11. Evasive Crosscurrents
Total playing time = 50m17s
The new album daringly redefines In-Quest's sonic foundations and introduces a more melodic, organic and massively layered approach to songwriting. It could be described as a continuation of technical 'Epileptic' enthusiasm combined with the distinct, emotional 'Comatose' fingerprint. Add to this the originality of the first 2 albums rediscovered, the cold 'Pyroclasm' brutality reinforced and a fresh, artistic & open-minded avantgarde attitude.
Vengeance, hatred and existential crises are the lyrical key themes that confront the listener with the phenomenon 'human' anno 2009. As such, "Made Out of Negative Matter" is about mankind, the most unfaithful breed of animals.
To translate this concept into imagery, In-Quest re-approached Dennis S. (DamnEngine/2004 'Epileptic'). Futuristic and cold, the album cover shows a metaphorical black hole, sucking up all matter and feeding on it.

Studio update
[ posted on: 25-10-07 ]
Brrr... here we are again. SplitSecondSound made it possible for us to record most of the guitars in our own studio, which is a great revelation for us! A little studio update from our axeman Douglas:
"I've been recording guitars over the last weeks, and things start to sound very, very intense and tight. At this point, I'm still putting more and more guitars on tape and reworking some tracks that don't quite have the right vibe yet. We want every track on this album to be outstanding and unique, so sometimes I need to be very strict and rework the arrangements from scratch. It feels great to work this freely without any stress and of course I'd like to thank SplitSecondSound for giving us that opportunity. Of course, it's hard to predict a release date this way, but since we are without label, we feel there is no hurry and decided to take all time we need to release the utter In-Quest album ever. I'm convinced this album will raise quite some eyebrows out there since there is so much energy going on in there. It's unbelieveable how we've changed and grown as a band and individuals since our previous album. In the meanwhile stay hooked on Asynchronous, since that track reveals a lot of what is coming in your direction!"

To everyone who took the time to check In-Quest out yesterday; the whole band wishes to express their gratitude for being so cool to us. This night was one to remember. Broken strings, dead necks, sore throats - it all didn't matter; This was pure INSANE BRUTALITY. Thanks to Bob & the Cradle staff for having us over. And of course the guys at JOC Izegem for the superb organisation. We hope you all liked the cover ;)...Pics online now!

Mid march, we'll be holding our eat-as-many-hamburgers-as-you-can contest in Germany supporting our comrades in Illdisposed. We're very much looking forward to this since we'll be premiering some new tunes and drones to y'all. Check the dates section for details
In other news, we're holding an XMASS blowout merch sale soon; the In-Quest mob needs your dirty cash for it's upcoming full length, ladies and gentlemen. Hold your raindiers and santas, since we might be at your door singing Jingle Bells before you know it!!

Catacomb ruled!

Thanks for everyone supporting the band y-day, and Dirk and co for the great organisation. It just felt like home yesterday!! Be aware that the show for Turnhout has been moved to an unspecified date. And yes, a lot of requests are coming for new shit... But don't forget; we've come from far people, really far. The lineup is finally complete again by adding Val (Mystica) to our ranks. Also a new rehearsal place has been found (thanks for Faghorn for temporarily having us farting over in their room), so balls out! The Comatose chapter's been closed down, boys and girls. We'll lock ourselves up soon for the new disc-y-wishky. Pimpin to the groove. Out
And just to make it a little bit more confusing...

The new date for SoundStation has just been set, and yet another date got moved; Metal at the Attic (Turnhout) is replanned for early 2007, but no date is confirmed yet. Strange stuff everywhere people...
Liège SoundStation moved
[ posted on: 14-09-06 ]
Seems like the show at SoundStation is moved to an unspecified date in february 'due to the elections'. Too bad, since we were really looking forward to this festival. As soon as we have a new date fixed, you'll be the first to know. Thx.

VlamRock Videos @ YouTube

Go here to watch some songs of our set at the VlamRock Festival last weekend. The festival was really cool, though we suffered from a terribly bad monitor sound... Ian's back went totally sore on this one, which made him realize how it is to run around with a Dcup all day :). Hallelujah! The lucky bastard!!

We've completed our work on the "Systematic Arhythmetic Hate" video. It's been quite a lot of work to get everything the way we wanted it, especially since there was no budget. But all in all, we're very happy with the result. The video is available here. Tell us what you think of it in our guestbook or forum.
